Oracle Form Builder (For Client and Web Applications)

DESCRIPTION

Learn how to use Form Builder to build client and Web data-entry applications. Use the Forms Wizard to create data blocks and layouts and to apply GUI standards. Add list items, radio groups, check-boxes. Learn to apply event-based triggers and alerts. Deploy Forms using the WebDB listener and the Forms Server in a three-tier environment. Integrate forms in a multi-form application. Lectures are followed by workshops, with hands-on exercises using Form Builder.

AUDIENCE

Application and/or Web developers, database developers, team leaders, attendees with PL/SQL skills

PREREQUISITES

Students should possess the following prior to attending:

  • Knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL; some knowledge of GUI developments tools useful; i.e. Visual Basic, Access, or equivalent

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASS SETUP

PC-equipped classroom with SQL/PLUS installed on student PCs. Barco projector to display instructor's PC.

Note: Client will need a technical person to install class tables on a non-production database server, client product on student/instructor PCs, client class files. Also to check install and call instructor to verify all set five days before class.

LOCATION AND MAXIMUM ATTENDANCE

All classes are scheduled and held at client site training rooms. No minimum attendance requirement. Maximum number of students: 16.

CONTENTS

  • Introduction to Form Builder and the Forms Server
  • Learn the runtime environment, restricted/unrestricted queries, and transaction operations
  • Create forms using the Forms Wizard; explore and enhance the resulting Data blocks, frames, and canvases
  • Understand properties: Data Blocks, Frames, and Items
  • Create other GUI items: T-lists, Radio Groups, Check-Boxes
  • Add Buttons, Calculated fields, Image items, Trees
  • Learn about trigger styles, PL/SQL in triggers, the trigger editor. Understand the use of Procedures and Functions. Learn techniques for generic and flexible code development, and PL/SQL libraries.
  • Using built-in packages to enhance developer productivity
  • Understand transactions within form builder (implicit SQL)
  • Integrate Object Libraries included with Form Builder, and learn how to create your own; introduction to property classes and SmartClasses.
  • Building Multi-Form applications; passing parameters between forms
  • How to deploy Forms on the Web, using the Forms Server (if WebServer/WebDB software installed, optional)
  • Deploy Web Forms using the Forms Server
