Introduction to Oracle9i SQL and PL/SQL

COURSE DURATION 5 days

DESCRIPTION

Learn the languages of the Oracle 9i (8i by Customer request) Database, SQL and PL/SQL. Learn how SQL leverages data access (queries) using the SELECT statement to fetch data from one or more tables (joins). Use SQL operators to quickly access the right data. Learn the Oracle functions that allow users to present, aggregate, and convert data. Learn to create tables, views, sequences (DDL). Perform transactions such as updates (DML), and even Grant and Revoke privileges (DCL). Learn how SQL fits into the procedural language, PL/SQL. Develop blocks; learn to declare variables, execute PL/SQL using parameters, and output variables. Add Loops and If-Then-Else statements. Finally, learn to process and manipulate entire tables using cursors and attributes. Learn composite datatypes: PL/SQL tables/records/table-of-records. Build exception handlers.

AUDIENCE

Application developers, database developers, team leaders, project managers, analysts, IS managers.

PREREQUISITES

Students should possess the following prior to attending:

  • Basic programming or analysis skills; some prior experience with SQL or equivalent is useful but not mandatory.

Note: Client will need a technical person to install class tables on a non-production database server, client product on students'/instructor's PCs, client class files. Also to check install and call instructor to verify all set five days before class.

LOCATION AND MAXIMUM ATTENDANCE

All classes are scheduled and held at client site training rooms. No minimum attendance requirement. Maximum number of students: 16.
